Lion Brand® Velvetspun

4.5 sc + 5.25 rows = 4 inches (10 cm When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

When joining a new color, cut old color leaving a tail, tie the new yarn very tightly to tail of old color, and sc over the yarn ends.      The ends left out will shed all their plush fibers, ending up as threads.  When they reach this state, clip them and the shedding will be over.

With A, chain 27 sts. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across-25 sc.
Row 1 Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st to last, with A, pull up a loop in last st, with B, yo, and through 2 loops.

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Row 3: Repeat row 1, changing to C in last st.
Row 4: With C, repeat row 2.
Row 5: Repeat row 3, changing to B in last st.
Row 6 With B, repeat row 2.

Continue in this manner to work 2 rows sc for each stripe, alternating colors, until a total of 34 rows have been worked. Fasten off.

Afghan begins and ends with a lavender stripe

Super Plush Pet Afghan Reviewed by Rhonda Cravey on 2008-05-08 *****
We rescue Jack Russell's and I wanted to be able to make something to send with each of them when they are adopted. So, I learned to crochet and this was my first project. I substituted the Jiffy yarn so that it would be machine washable and dryable. I also made it a little bigger than the pattern indicated. This was such an easy and quick project and the end result is precious.
