Rnd 1 With RS facing, join MC in first sc, ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc; turn – 36 sc.

Rnd 2 (WS) Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc.

Rnd 3 Ch 1, *sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc; turn – 42 sc.

Rnd 4 (WS) Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc; turn.

Rnd 5 Ch 1, *sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc; turn – 48 sc.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Lion Brand® Velvetspun

GAUGE:

8 sc + 8 rows = 4" [10 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

FP Slip St (front post slip st) Working from front to back to front, insert hook around the sc post, yarn over and draw through st and loop on hook in one motion.

HAT
With MC, ch 3; join with slip st to form ring.
Rnd 1 (RS) Ch 1, work 8 sc in ring; join with slip st in first sc – 8 sc.
Rnd 2 Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc – 16 sc.
Rnd 3 Ch 1, *sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc – 24 sc.
Rnd 4 Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc – 32 sc.
Rnd 5 Ch 1, *sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc – 36 sc.
Rnd 6 (RS) Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc; turn.
Rnd 7 (WS) Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc; turn.
Rnds 8-9 Repeat Rnds 6-7.
Fasten off MC; join CC.
Rnds 10-11 With CC, repeat Rnds 6-7.
Rnd 12 Repeat Rnd 6.
Fasten off.

BRIM

Rnd 1 With RS facing, join MC in first sc, ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc; turn – 36 sc.

Rnd 2 (WS) Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc.

Rnd 3 Ch 1, *sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc; turn – 42 sc.

Rnd 4 (WS) Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with slip st in first sc; turn.

Rnd 5 Ch 1, *sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc; turn – 48 sc.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

FLOWER
With MC, ch 4; join with slip st to form ring.
Rnd 1 (RS) Ch 1, work 10 sc in ring; join with slip st in first sc – 10 sc.
Rnd 2 *Ch 5, slip st in back loop of next sc; repeat from * around – 10 ch5-loops. Fasten off MC.
Rnd 3 With RS facing, join CC in front loop of any sc in Rnd 1, *ch 2, slip st in front loop of next sc; repeat from * around – 10 ch2-spaces. Fasten off CC, leaving a tail for sewing.
With large-eyed, blunt needle and tail, sew Flower to side of Hat on CC stripe.

SCARF
With CC, ch 84.
Row 1 (RS) Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 83 sc.
Rnd 2 *Ch 10, slip st in front loop of each of next 2 sc; repeat from * across to last sc, ch 10, slip st in front loop of last sc; working across opposite side of foundation ch, slip st in first ch, **ch 10, slip st in each of next 2 ch; repeat from ** across to last ch, ch 10; join with slip st in base of first ch10-loop. Fasten off CC.
Rnd 3 With RS facing, join MC in back loop of first sc in Row 1, *ch 10, slip st in remaining back loop of next 2 sc; repeat from * across; turn so that MC loops are on back side of Scarf, and CC rnd is facing; working across sts in Row 1, **ch 10, FP Slip St in each of next 2 sc; repeat from ** across. Fasten off.
