GAUGE:

8 sc = 4 inches. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Rolled Crochet Hat Reviewed by Frankie Harvey-Shea on 2009-01-14 *****
I used Homespun to make this hat. Two hats can be made from one skein. I added one extra increase row and three more rows, and then edged it using a crab stitch. (worked from left to right without turning hat. After slip stitch join last row, chain 1 and sl st in the next stitch to the right. ch 1, sl in next stitch to the right* repeat all the way around and join with a slip stitch. I then made a bow by ch 20 with a 6 inch tail at beginning of chain. Join to first ch with a sl st. ch 20, join to center where tail is with a sl st*. repeat 6 more times. leave 6" at end when cutting off. Poke ends thru different stitches on hat where you want the bow to be and tie a square knot on the inside.
