ORNAMENT
CROCHET HOOK The tiny crochet hook was made from the ring that
secures the milk jug lid (and that has to be removed when
opening the jug). We used scissors to cut it to shape.
MINIATURE YARN BALLS Use any kind of lightweight yarn to create yarn ball and
skeins. In our example, we unraveled about
4 feet of Lion Wool into its four separate strands, got them
damp, ironed them to make them straight and then wrapped
them into skeins about 1½ inch [4 cm] in length. We
made labels, cut them to size, wrapped them and secured them
with tape. Click here to download the miniature Lion
Brand labels to print on your color printer.
FINISHING
Place items in the basket and secure with a dab of hot glue.
Cut a strand of yarn about 10 inches [25 cm] long and tie a
bow on the handle of the basket. Secure with a dab of
glue.
Place basket inside ornament, position the free end of the
yarn so it is outside the ornament and of a length where the
basket can hang free. Close the two halves of the
ornament.
Tie the yarn in a bow and trim ends as shown.
Thread another piece of yarn through the hole at the top of the
ornament that is designed for hanging and tie off securely.
Your ornament is now complete.
'Hooked on Crochet' Holiday Ornament Reviewed by Margaret K. Childs on 2009-03-21
I made about a dozen of these two years ago for our church bazaar. They sold very well.
Some I gave to friends and wrote, "Peggy's Stash". (their names) On others I wrote, "So much yarn - so little time". My little baskets had a solid rim so I wrote the sayings on the computer and glued them on.
