Lion Brand® Microspun

GAUGE:

5 sts = 2" measured over fabric that has been smoothed to lay flat, but not stretched. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

CROCHET STITCH

dc variation: Insert hook from right to left through st, yarn over hook and pull loop through, (yarn over hook and pull through 2 loops) twice. Note: When inserting hook from right to left, hook exits on left where it would normally be inserted for regular double crochet. St is not worked around lower portion (front post) of previous row's st.

SHAWL: Ch 52. Dc in 4th ch from hook (beg ch 3 counts as first dc) and in each ch across -- 50 dc. Pat Row: Ch 3, turn. Dc variation in each st across row and turning ch -- 50 dc variations. Rep pat row until Shawl is 72" or desired length. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Optional Crochet Fringe: Row 1: Work sc across short end of Shawl. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in first sc, ch approx 30 (or twice desired fringe length), sc to attach in next sc, *ch 30 (or twice desired fringe length), sc to attach in next sc, rep from * across row. Fasten off. Rep crochet fringe at other short end of Shawl.
