Gardener's Apron

Lion Brand® Lion® Cotton

GAUGE:

14 sc = 4 inches [10 cm] When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

APRON:
Ch 69. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across -- 68 sc. Ch 1, turn. Cont in sc for 10 inches. Fasten off.

POCKET:
Ch 61. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across -- 60 sc. Ch 1, turn. Cont in sc for 7 inches. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Position pocket on the apron 1 inches in from each side edge and even with bottom edge. Sew pocket to apron along side edges of pocket. Mark 2 vertical seams 4 inches in from each side edge of pocket piece to create 3 separate pockets. Work a vertical ch at each pocket marker from bottom edge to top edge.

Edging: With RS facing, join yarn with a sl st at the upper right corner of apron and work 1 row sc along right side edge to next corner, 3 sc in corner, along bottom edge through both pieces to next corner, 3 sc in corner, then along left side edge. Fasten off.

Tie: Ch 5. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across -- 4 sc. Ch 1, turn. Cont in sc for 60 inches. Fasten off. Mark tie 21½ inches in from each end, then invisibly sew tie to upper edge of apron bet the markers leaving 21½ inches on each end free.

Great Pattern and fun to do. I started it on Monday night and finished it on Saturday in between doing other projects.
