GAUGE:

12 sc + 14 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] with A. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc dec) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

HAT
With A, ch 3. Join with slip st to form ring.
Rnd 1 Ch 1, work 8 sc in ring; join with slip st in beg sc – 8 sc.
Rnd 2 Ch 1, work 2 sc in each sc around; join with slip st in beg sc – 16 sc.
Rnd 3 Ch 1, [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around; join with slip st in beg sc – 24 sc.
Rnd 4 Ch, [sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around; join with slip st in beg sc – 32 sc.
Continue to inc in this manner, working 1 more sc before each inc, for 3 more rnds – 56 sc. Work 1 rnd even. Continue to work even in sc, working in back loops only, for 6 more rnds. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Fur Trim
With RS facing, join B at center back (beg of rnd) in first open front loop of sc; [ch 3, sc into next front loop] around, ending with sc into first front loop. Slip st down to next rnd and work as for first rnd of Fur Trim. Continue to work in front loops of all rnds and then in edge of last rnd for Fur Trim. Fasten off.

EARS – Make 2
Beg at top of Ear, with A, ch 9. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 8 sc. Work 8 rows even. Dec 1 st at beg and end of next 2 rows – 4 sc. Fasten off.

Join A at top of Ear. Work 1 row sc along side of Ear, 3 sc in each of first and last sc of last row, sc evenly up remaining side, ending at other side of top. Fasten off.

With B, join yarn at top of Ear and sc across each sc of previous row. Fasten off.

Attach Ears on either side of Hat, sewing securely on inside. Weave in ends.

MITTENS – Make 2
With A, ch 19. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 18 sc. Work 1 more row even in sc.
Thumb Inc 1 Ch 1, sc in first 8 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc across remaining 8 sc; turn – 20 sc.
Thumb Inc 2 Ch 1, sc in first 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in remaining 8 sc; turn – 22 sc.
Thumb Inc 3 Ch 1, sc in first 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in remaining 8 sc; turn – 24 sc.
Divide for Thumb and Hand Ch 1, sc in first 8 sc, ch 2, skip next 8 sc, sc in remaining 8 sc; turn – 16 sc.

On next row, sc in each sc and each ch across – 18 sc. Work even in sc until there are a total of 12 rows from beg of thumb and hand division.

Dec Row 1 Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc2tog, [sc in next sc, sc2tog] across; turn – 12 sts.

Dec Row 2 Ch 1, [sc2tog] across – 6 sts.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Thumb Join A in first sc at thumb opening, sc across 8 thumb sts, draw up a loop in each of next 2 ch, draw yarn through both loops on hook (1 st decreased); join with slip st in beg sc – 9 sts. Work 4 rnds even.

Dec Rnd Ch 1, [sc in next sc, sc2tog] around; join with slip st in beg sc – 6 sts.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Weave yarn through sts at tip of thumb; gather tightly and fasten securely. Weave yarn through sts at tip of hand; gather tightly and fasten securely. Sew hand seam.

Cuff With RS facing, join A at seam at base of hand. Ch 1, sc in each ch of foundation ch; join with slip st in beg sc – 18 sc. Working in rnds, sc in back loops only for 3 more rnds. Fasten off.

Fur Trim Join B at first front loop at seam. Work Fur Trim as for Hat in front loops of all rnds. Weave in ends.

TAIL

With A, ch 3. Join with slip st to form ring.

Rnd 1 Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; join with slip st in beg sc – 8 sc.

Rnds 2-6 Ch 1, sc in back loop only of each sc around; join with slip st in beg sc.

Rnds 7-21 Sc in each sc around; join with slip st in beg sc.

Belt Loop Holding first 4 sc over last 4 sc, sc2tog (1 st from front and 1 st from back) 4 times; turn.

Working back and forth, work on 4 sc for 14 more rows. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Sew last row of 4 sts to first row of 4 sts.

Fur Trim Join B at center of Rnd 6. Work Fur Trim as for Hat over all sts of Rnds 6 through 2. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

ANKLE CUFFS – Make 2

With A, ch 25. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 24 sc.

Row 1 Ch 1, sc in front loop of each sc across; turn.

Row 2 Ch 1, sc in back loop of each sc across; turn.

Row 3 Ch 1, sc in front loop of each sc across. Fasten off.

Fur Trim Join B at beg ch edge. [Ch 3, sc in next ch] across. Slip st up to loops on next row. Working in other direction, [ch 3, sc in next st] across. Continue to work Fur Trim loops over each row of loops and along top edge of last row. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Cut elastic in half. On wrong side of Cuffs, sew elastic to each end securely.

COLLAR

With C, ch 33. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 32 sc.

Ch 1, 3 sc in first sc, sc across to last st, 3 sc in last sc; turn to work across foundation ch; 3 sc in first ch of foundation ch, sc in each ch of foundation ch, 3 sc in last ch; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Remove catch from buckle. Weave Collar through buckle, adjusting so buckle is in center front. Sew snap closure on each end of Collar, and fasten at back of neck.
