GAUGE:

15 sts = 4 inches (10 cm) in chevron pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Work all sc into back loop on Band only.

Mother-and-child Tube Hat & Scarf Reviewed by dru ubben on 2010-01-11 *****
My 4 year old picked out this scarf and I ammended the pattern some. Instead of a long chain of 200, I shortened it to 156. Also, I find single crochets difficult to work with row after row, so I substituted double crochets. In the end, the pattern worked out like this: chain row, three rows of dc in the main color, 1 row of dc in color b, three rows of dc in the main color. SC border in color b. He loves it, which is all that matters.
