Monster-in-Law Poncho
Lion Brand® Landscapes - Jiffy® - Watercolors - Color Waves
GAUGE: 5 dc + 4 rows = 4" [10 cm] with MC. Fabric is loosely crocheted and very stretchy; finished garment will
measure differently than gauge would indicate.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | Base Ch/Sc Start with a slip knot, ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops – 1 single crochet with its own chain at bottom. Work next stitch under loops of that chain. Insert hook under 2 loops at bottom of the previous stitch, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. Repeat for length of foundation.

NOTES: Poncho begins with a Large Rectangle, with a Small Rectangle added on to make an L-shape. The ends of the “L inches are sewn together for back seam.

Fasten off MC. Weave in ends. FRINGE Cut remaining yarn into 20" [51 cm] lengths, 100 assorted strands (at least 25 in MC). Using 4 strands for each Fringe (include 1 MC strand in each), attach 1 Fringe in every other row-end dc on right side of Poncho and in every 3rd space between sts across left side of Poncho. Attach Fringe as follows: hold 4 strands of yarn together and fold in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of Poncho, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Trim fringe even.
