GAUGE: Each pat rep = 6½". BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

With A, ch 139.
Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 10 ch, 3 sc in next ch, *1 sc in each of next 10 ch, skip next 2 ch, 1 sc in each of next 10 ch, 3 sc in next ch; rep from * to last 11 ch, 1 sc in each of last 11 ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), *skip 1 sc, 1 dc in each of next 10 sc, 3 dc in next sc, 1 dc in each of next 10 sc, skip 1 sc; rep from * across, end 1 dc in last sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, skip next dc, 1 sc in each of next 10 dc, 3 sc in next dc, *1 sc in each of next 10 dc, skip next 2 dc, 1 sc in each of next 10 dc, 3 sc in next dc; rep from * across to last 11 dc, 1 sc in each of last 11 dc, turn. I made this throw for my friend's B-Day and she loved it however I changed the scheme of it to the main color being black (6 row each) and the other colors different shades of blues (4 rows each from light to dark). It turned out so beautiful that my daughter wanted one for her and my grand-daughter in shades of purple for my daughter and shades of pink for my grand-daughter. Thanks for the use of the free pattern. Karen
