The Perfect Poncho

Lion Brand® Incredible® - Fun Fur®

GAUGE:

8 sts = 4" [10 cm] + 3 rnds = 4½" [11.5 cm] in pattern with MC on larger hook.
12 sc + 13 rnds = 4" [10 cm] with CC on smaller hook. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Base Ch/Sc

Start with a slip knot, ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops – 1 single crochet with its own chain at bottom. Work next stitch under loops of that chain. Insert hook under 2 loops at bottom of the previous stitch, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. Repeat for length of foundation. Note This stitch creates a foundation with more stretch than usual.

Shell 5 tr in same st.

NOTES:

Pattern consists of 6 sets of offset Shells alternating with 6 panels of mesh. Each mesh panel begins and ends with 2 tr, between which the ch1-spaces of the mesh increase by 1 in each successive row.

The Perfect Poncho Reviewed by LaShawn Wright on 2008-07-11 *****
I have made at least 3 of these for gifts. They are super fast and easy. The foundation row is a little tricky but as long as you follow the directions you end up with a poncho as nice as in the picture. The fun fur mixed with the incredible feels like real fur and satin.
