Town and Country Capelet

Lion Brand® Homespun®

GAUGE:

8 hdc + 7 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] on larger hook. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

Capelet is worked from neck to lower edge.

Editor’s Note: When creating fringe using Homespun please note that because of the texture of the yarn the fringe will fray when cut. If you prefer a non-frayed look you can knot the ends, knit or crochet a fringe, or use hairspray or fray check.

With smaller hook, ch 43.

Row 1 Dc in 5th ch from hook, *ch 1, skip next ch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch (V-stitch made); repeat from * across – 20 V-stitches. Turn.

Row 2 Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 5 dc first in ch-1 space, *sc in next ch-1 space, 6 dc in next ch-1 space (shell made); repeat from * across – 20 shells. Fasten off, leaving long tail.

FINISHING

Thread needle with strand of yarn and weave down through last st to base of Rosette. Starting at that end, roll first shell tightly to form center bud; anchor at base of shell with 2 sts. Town and Country Capelet Reviewed by Eve Knight on 2013-11-06 *****
Just had to write - this pattern was oh, so easy and turned out oh, so beautiful. Used the deep blue shades of Homespun. I decided to slip stitch the bottom instead of using a border. I am sending it to my future granddaughter-in-law who is lives in The Ukraine - she loves the deep blue color. Did make the rose but used a clip on back so it could be interchanged (maybe a broach, etc.) It really looks quite elegant and, plan on making another as loved it so much. So much fun to make (started one evening, finished the next)
So sorry but do not know how to send pictures although can receive them on this computer - daughter says I need another. My hubby said I should keep it as he liked my modeling it for him.
Thank you for this pattern.
Eve Knight
