One-Skein Hat and Scarf
Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 11 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm) in double crochet.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

I made an altered version of this set for my mom, and she loves it; she loves the feel of Homespun.
Note: I completed the scarf lentghwise instead of as the pattern read, because I wanted less row repeats. It came out nicely, although following the pattern would have allowed more noticeable color variation (I think).
