One-skein beginner scarf
Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 8 single crochets = 4 inches (10 cm).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

This scarf did not work out for me. The pattern is excellent, but I had a really difficult time seeing the stitches in the Homespun yarn. The yarn itself is soft and warm, but my scarf came out crooked and lumpy. Plus, when I tried to unravel my stitches where I had made a mistake the yarn broke.
I'm going to try a different scarf and different yarn the next time around.
