Basketweave Throw

GAUGE: 12 sts = 4" with Size K hook. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: Raised DC at the front (FP dc): Wrap the yarn around the hook, insert hook from in front and from right to left around the post of the appropriate st, complete dc.
Raised DC at the back (BP dc): Wrap the yarn around the hook, insert the hook from behind and from right to left around the post of the appropriate st, complete dc.

| I made this considerably larger than the instructions called for quite by accident. I intended to make a rather small one, but it had been YEARS since I'd done crochet and my guage was just off I suspose (I never measure it.)Thank goodness I started it with a yarn with no dye lots and could just buy more when I ran short. Anyway, it turned out to be 7 feet by 6 1/2 feet (without the edging, which I didn't feel it needed) and it's gorgeous. I worked it in a rich burgundy supersoft 4ply worsted baby yarn (It took 30 some odd skeins) and gave it to my daughter for Christmas. They love it, she and her husband can snuggle up under it together to watch football games on the sofa. It is so warm it's unbelievable. The pattern isn't difficult, it just takes a little getting used to to capture the rythm and mine was SO large and took so long it did become a little tedious. I'm ready now to make another though.
