GAUGE: 12 sts = 4" with Size K hook. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: Raised DC at the front (FP dc): Wrap the yarn around the hook, insert hook from in front and from right to left around the post of the appropriate st, complete dc.
Raised DC at the back (BP dc): Wrap the yarn around the hook, insert the hook from behind and from right to left around the post of the appropriate st, complete dc.

I love this pattern. I am a beginner and it was easy and fun to do. I live in Wisconsin and this really keeps me warm during our cold winter season. I usually make throws to give as gifts, but could not give this one up. Guess I will have to make more.
