Pocket Pet Duckling
Lion Brand® Fun Fur®
GAUGE: 24 scs x 16 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

DUCKLING
Chain 21. Row 1 Sc (single crochet) in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across – 20 sc. Row 2 Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. Rep last row 12 more times, or until piece is square. End off. Cut yarn.Need a little help? Use our handy learn-to-crochet instructions for detailed pictures and instructions! Fold square in half and stitch as shown | | | Turn the fabric and open it -- it will be a cone. Put the stuffing into it. Position stuffing with your finger to make the duck the shape you'd like (you can always adjust this later, as well) | | | Fold down the flap at the top of the cone. Sew the open edges closed. | | | To put eyes on the duck pull the crochet hook all the way through the duckling's 'head' and use it to pull the black and white yarn through together. Tie it off securely on one end (use several knots). Pull it tight and tie off on the other end (use several knots). Trim closely. | | Cut 2 feet and 2 bills from felt, per pattern: | | Using needle and thread, position and sew bill (hold both together for top and bottom bill) and feet (sew on opposite sides) to the duck. | | | If this duck will be used as a bookmark, cut three strands of rick-rack and sew on underside of duck. Adjust position of stuffing so duck is the shape you want. |
