Lion Brand® Color Waves (old) - Fun Fur®
9 stitches + 5 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in double crochet.
When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size
specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be
sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what
the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person.
If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller
size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch
This pattern works well with Lion Bouclé, Homespun, Color Waves, Fancy Fur, Wool-Ease Chunky, Landscapes, or Polarspun. Use whatever size hook gives you a gauge of 9 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm). Row gauge will determine whether you need more (more rows) or less (less rows) yarn.
PONCHETTE – Make 2 rectangles (each 13 inches wide x 28 inches long)
With MC, ch 32.
Row 1 Double crochet in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across – 30 double crochets.
Rows 2-35 Chain 3, turn. Double crochet in each double crochet across. Fasten off.
Sew end of one scarf to side of the other as per diagram. Fold, matching points A and B, and sew together.
Lower Edge Trim
Working with 1 strand of each CC held together, attach yarn with a slip stitch to either point along lower edge of Ponchette.
Round 1 Chain 3, 2 double crochets in same space, work 100 double crochets evenly along edge to opposite point; 3 double crochets in point, 100 double crochets evenly spaced along edge to starting point, join with slip stitch to top of starting chain-3.
Round 2 Chain 3, 2 double crochets in same stitch, double crochet in each double crochet across to opposite point; 3 double crochets in center double crochet of point, double crochet in each double crochet to starting point, join with slip stitch to top of starting chain-3.
Working with 1 strand of each CC held together, attach yarn with slip stitch anywhere along neck edge. If there is enough CC, chain 1 and work 1 more row single crochet around neck opening. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
