GAUGE: 10 sc + 12.5 rows = 4" (10 cm) with larger hook. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Afghan is worked in strips and sewn together afterwards

AFGHAN Strip 1 (make 5) With larger hook and A, ch 12. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 11 sc. Ch 1 , turn; work 9 more rows sc with A. Cont in sc, change colors after every 10th row in the following color sequence: (B, C, B, A, C, B, C, A) twice. Fasten off. Strip 2 (make 4) Work same as Strip 1 until1 0 rows A have been completed. Cont in sc, change colors after every 10th row in the following color sequence: (C, B, C, A, B, C, B, A) twice. Fasten off. Sew strips together in the following sequence: Strip 1 Strip 2 Strip 1 Strip 2 Strip 1 Strip 2 Strip 1 Strip 2 Strip 1 taking care to match rows FINISHING Side strips With smaller hook and A, sc evenly across long edge of afghan. Ch 1, turn. Work in sc for 9 more rows. Fasten off. Edging With smaller hook, B, and RS facing; sc evenly around entire afghan, working 3 sc in each corner and slip st to join. Ch 1, turn. Work 2 more rounds with WS facing. Fasten off. Weave in loose ends.
