Repeat dec every row 3 (4, 5, 6, 8, 9) times more - 31 (34, 37, 38, 39, 42) sts. Work even in sc until armhole measures 7 (7½, 8, 8½, 9, 9½)". Shoulder and Back neck shaping Ch 1, turn; work 7 (8, 9, 9, 9, 10) sc. Cont on these sts 3 rows more - armhole measures 8 (8½, 9, 9½, 10, 10½)". Fasten off. Skip center 17 (18, 19, 20, 21, 22) sts. Join yarn with ch 1 and work 7 (8, 9, 9, 9, 10) sc. Cont on these sts 3 rows more. Fasten off.
LEFT FRONT Ch 23 (25, 28, 30, 33, 35). Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 22 (24, 27, 29, 32, 34) sc. Ch 1, turn, work 2 more rows sc. Ch 3, turn, continue in dc until piece measures 14 (14, 13 ½, 13½, 13, 13)" from beg. Ch 1, turn; continue in sc only. Armhole and V-neck shaping Slip st across first 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4) sts, sc to last 2 sc, dec 1 st. Next row Dec 1 st at armhole edge. Repeat dec at armhole edge every row 3 (4, 5, 6, 8, 9) times more. Repeat dec at neck edge every 4th row 7 (7, 8, 8, 9, 9) times more. Cont in this manner until armhole measures 8 (8½, 9, 9½, 10, 10 ½)". Fasten off.
RIGHT FRONT Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping. FINISHING Sew shoulders together. Sew side seams, leaving 4" side slits. Mark button placement on left front. Edging With RS facing, beg at lower right front, join yarn and work in sc to lower left front, working 3 sc at beg of V-neck and 2 sts together at back neck corners. Buttonhole row Ch 1, turn; sc, working buttonhole on right front opposite marker by (ch 1, skip 1 sc, sc to end). Ch 1, turn; sc 1 row more, working sc in ch1-space for buttonhole. Work 1 rnd in sc around armholes and 1 rnd sc at side slits. Weave in loose ends. Sew on button.
