Big Granny Square Afghan
Lion Brand® Homespun® - Chenille Thick & Quick®
GAUGE: Rnd 1 should measure 3¼" x 3¼" (8.25 cm) using larger hook and 2 strands of Homespun.
8 sts = 4" (10 cm); 4 rnds border = 4½" with smaller hook and 1 strand Chenille Thick & Quick. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

| Big Granny Square Afghan Reviewed by Jodi Lynn Wisneski on 2012-03-05 |

| I adore this afghan! I only wish that Lion Brand hadn't discontinued Chenille Thick and Quick :( oh, the fortune I have spent on Ebay buying this stuff! I made this afghan in Antique Homespun (again, discontinued...) and did the border in Midnight Blue and Burgundy Chenille. It is SO soft and luxurious, I made it extra big to cover my queen size bed, the thing must weigh 30 pounds. It is actually almost too warm to sleep under. You could probably just make it with Homespun and try to use another contrasting type of yarn to do the border, it just was nice to have coordinating colors! Despite the fact the Chenille was discontinued I still highly recommend this easy, gorgeous afghan!
