GAUGE: Each square measures 7½ inches x 7½ inches (19 mm).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

| Rainbow Stripe Blanket Reviewed by JEAN C. GILBERT on 2008-02-06 |

I'm about to make a second one of these, having made one about three years ago for a friend of my oldest daughter. Now my daughter is expecting and I will be fulfilling my promise to make her baby one, too.
The original pattern called for two balls of each color, though only a small portion of the second ball was used. If only I had bought a third ball of each before this yarn was discontinued! <Sigh>
I remember I got an extra, kind of padded effect by tucking the yarn ends inside of the rainbows. I'll probably do that again.
All in all a great, cheerful pattern...not too hard and not too easy. Definitely not a run-of the-mill pattern!
Now if I can only find either one ball of each color of the discontinued yarn somewhere or figure out how to approximate the colors with the suggested substitute yarns!
