BLANKET
Square
Make 25 7 inches x 7 inches squares – 8 White, 8 Pastel Pink, and 9 Pastel Blue
With G hook, chain 33.
Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn (32 sc).
Row 2 Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (32 sc).
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 7 inches square.
Do not fasten off.

Edging
Beginning in the corner of the square,*work 3 sc in corner, and sc evenly spaced along side of square; rep from * 3 times, ending with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.

Finishing
To assemble, arrange squares into strips as follows (see diagram):
(A) 2 strips White-Pastel Pink-Pastel Blue-Pastel Pink-White
(B) 2 strips Pastel Pink-Pastel Blue-White-Pastel Blue-Pastel Pink
(C) 1 strip Pastel Blue-White-Pastel Blue-White-Pastel Blue
and, using matching yarn, with right sides facing, whip stitch the squares together through both crochet loops of each square. Then whip stitch the strips together A-B-C-B-A. With F hook and Pastel Pink for girl or Pastel Blue for boy, join yarn with sc in any corner. Work 3 sc in each corner and 1 sc in each sc around outer edge of blanket. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

SWEATER

Back
With G hook and White, ch 49 (53, 58, 63).
Row 1 Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn [48 (52, 57, 62) sc].
Row 2 Work 1 sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 10 (11, 13, 15) inches from beginning. Fasten off.

Left Front (for girl) or Right Front (for boy)
Ch 28 (30, 32, 35).
Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn [27 (29, 31, 34) sc] .
Row 2 Work 1 sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures same as back. Fasten off.

Right Front (for girl) or Left Front (for boy)
Ch 28 (30, 32, 35).
Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn [ 27 (29, 31, 34) sc].
Row 2 Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Make Buttonhole Sc in each of first 2 sc, ch 2, skip next 2 sc, sc to end of row, ch 1, turn.
Row 4 Sc in first 23 (25, 27, 30) sc, 2 sc in ch-2 space, sc in each of the last 2 sc, ch 1, turn.
*Repeat Row 2 for next 6 (8, 10, 12) rows.
Repeat Rows 3 & 4*.
Repeat the 8 (10, 12, 14) rows between *’s 2 more times. [4 button holes made.]
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures same as back. Fasten off.

Sleeve (make 2)
Ch 34 (34, 39, 44).
Row 1
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn [33 (33, 38, 43) sc].
Row 2 Work 1 sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until sleeve measures 7 (7, 8, 9) inches. Fasten off.

Assembly

Place buttonhole piece on right for girl or left for boy. Sew shoulder seams from armhole edge inward toward neck opening for 3 (3, 4, 4) inches on each side. Leave rest of shoulder seams for neck opening. Place markers on sides 3½ (3½, 4, 4½) inches down from shoulder seams. Set sleeves between markers and sew in place. Sew side seam and sleeve seams. With F hook and Pastel Pink for girl or Pastel Blue for boy, join yarn with sc in bottom right corner of sweater front, work 1 row sc with 3 sc in each corner along right front, around neckline, down left front and across bottom of sweater. End with sl st in first sc, fasten off. For sleeve trim, work 1 row sc around bottom edges of sleeves, sl st in first sc, fasten off. Fold back lapels and sew 1 button at each corner to anchor. Sew buttons opposite each buttonhole.

Baby Bonnet

With G hook and White, ch 57.

Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn (56 sc).

Row 2 Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.

Rows 3 – 40 Repeat Row 2. After Row 40, fasten off. Using 2 strands of White and tapestry needle, thread yarn through each space of starting ch. Gather tightly and tie securely. Sew side seam beginning from gathered top for 2 inches, leaving 6 inches open for back of neck and front cuff. Fasten off. Starting at center back, with F hook and Pastel Pink for girl or Pastel Blue for boy, work 1 row sc with 3 sc in each corner evenly around entire edge of bonnet. End with sl st in first sc, fasten off. Fold back front 1 inches of bonnet.
