Fun Fur Trimmed Poncho

GAUGE: 9 double crochets = 4 inches [10 cm] BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: The materials list and pattern are written to reflect the smallest size, with changes for larger sizes indicated in brackets. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow the pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning to crochet or knit.

CROCHET INSTRUCTIONS PONCHO STRIPS (Make 2) Chain 26 [31, 36].Foundation Row Double crochet in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across; turn – 24 [29, 34] double crochets. Row 1 Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), double crochet in each double crochet across; turn. Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 22 (25, 28) inches from beginning. Fasten off. Weave in ends.FINISHING
Place marker on long side of first piece, 11 (12½, 15) inches from one end. Sew end of second piece to side of first piece between corner and marker. Sew end of first piece to side of second piece (matching A to A and B to B as shown on schematic). 
EMBELLISHMENTS
With Fun Fur, work 1 row of double crochet evenly spaced along bottom and neck edges of poncho. Optional Trims
Sew 5 inches tassels to front and back points OR Attach 5 inches fringe evenly spaced along bottom edges.

I made five children's Fun Fur Trimmed ponchos and two Martha Stewart ponchos for my daughter in laws. I can't tell you how happy I made them. They loved them It was so easy. They wear them constantly.
For the children I used the (berry colored wool) purples and pinks.
