Mitered Throw

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®

GAUGE:

12 sc and 12 rows = 4"/10cm over sc using size J/10 (8mm) crochet hook.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc3tog (single crochet 3 together) Insert hook into st and draw up a lp, [insert hook into next st and draw up a lp] 2 times, yo, draw through all 4 lps on hook—2 sts decreased.

NOTES:

1) Afghan is worked in a modular fashion, working new motifs by picking up sts along edges of previous motifs.
Each motif is worked with the same number of sts. Motif is worked from outside edges, decreasing until no sts remain. Last row and edges of rows create a long straight top edge with first row creating remaining 3 outside edges of motif. Next motif is worked along one short edge of previous motif, adding new sts until same number of sts and is worked in same manner as first motif. New motifs are added until first row of motifs has been joined. Second row of motifs is worked along edges of first row. Motifs are joined in rows, beginning at lower right corner and ending at upper left corner.
2) When changing colors, work last step of last st of previous color with new color.
