Good advanced-beginner project

I'm new to knitting, and this project was great for practicing knit, purl, switching between, following a pattern, and fixing the inevitable minor screwups along the way. :) Definitely more interesting than a plain stockinette project. I found the scarf a little short as written, but had enough left on my ball of Scarfie to repeat the pattern a full two more times. My only critique is that the way the pattern is written (the way the repeats are grouped) makes it difficult to intuitively understand the pattern; it's worth taking a moment to think about how it works so you can count in a way that makes sense to you rather than awkwardly referring back to the printed pattern all the time. (Or a chart would have been nice.) But I'm very pleased with the end result!
