STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

 


BOYFRIEND
Head and Body

With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in first ch; place marker (pm) to indicate beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc around – 16 sc.
Rnd 3: *2 Sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around – 24 sc.
Rnd 4: *2 Sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around – 32 sc.
Rnd 5: *2 Sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * around – 40 sc.
Rnds 6–15: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 16: Sc2tog around – 20 sc.
Rnd 17: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 18: 2 Sc in first sc, sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in last sc – 24 sc.
Rnd 19: 2 Sc in first sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in last sc – 28 sc.
Rnd 20: 2 Sc in first sc, sc in next 12 sc, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc in next 12 sc, 2 sc in last sc – 32 sc.
Rnd 21: 2 Sc in first sc, sc in next 14 sc, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc in next 14 sc, 2 sc in last sc – 36 sc.
Rnds 22–32: Sc in each st around.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

Nose
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch; pm; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each st around – 10 sc.
Rnd 3: Sc in each st around.
Stuff Nose.
Rnd 4: Sc2tog around – 5 sc.
Fasten off.

Ears (make 2)
With C, ch 6.
Row 1: Sc in 3rd ch from hook, 2 dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, (sc, ch 2, sc) in last ch; working along opposite side of foundation ch, hdc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch.
Fasten off.

Arms (make 2)
With E, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch; pm; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnds 2–12: Sc in each sc around.
Fasten off.

Legs (make 2)
Note:
To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over.
Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete the st. Carry color not in use up the inside of the piece.
With C, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in first ch; pm; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around, changing to D in the last st.
Rnds 3 and 4: Sc in each sc around, changing to C in the last st of Rnd 4.
Continue in this way, working 2 rnds with C and D alternately, until you've completed 18 rnds.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Following package instructions, attach eyes to face. Sew nose and ears to head. With D, embroider a straight st smile. Stuff head and body firmly, then sew closed. Stuff arms and legs and sew to body.
Weave in ends.

BOX
Front

With E, ch 21.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 20 sts.
Rows 2-16: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Fasten off.

Back
Make same as Front.

Sides (make 2)
With E, ch 9.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 8 sts.
Rows 2-12: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Make Armhole
Row 13:
Ch 1, turn, sc in first 3 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, sc in last 3 sts.
Row 14: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc and ch across – 8 sts.
Rows 15 and 16: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Fasten off.

Base
With E, ch 21.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 20 sts.
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across – 20 sts.
Make Leg Openings
Row 5:
Ch 1, turn, sc in first 4 sts, ch 3, sk 3 sts, sc in next 6 sts, ch 3, sk 3 sts, sc to end.
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc and ch across – 20 sts.
Rows 7 and 8: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Fasten off.

Top
With E, ch 21.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 20 sts.
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
From RS with E, work sc evenly spaced through both thicknesses to join Front, Back and Sides to make a 4-sided box.
The end of the Box that armholes are closest to is the top of the Box.
From RS with E, work sc evenly spaced through both thicknesses to join Base to bottom of Box.
In same way, join one long side of top to one long edge of Box.
Weave in ends.
