Crosswalk Bath Mat

Lion Brand« Kitchen Cotton

GAUGE:

One Patch = about 2 1/2 x 3 1/4 in. (6.5 x 8.5 cm)
One Block = about 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 in. (19 x 24 cm)

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

1. Mat is made from 9 Blocks.
2. Each Block is made from 9 patches. The color of the patches in each Block are alternated to create a checkerboard pattern.
3. All patches have the same number of rows and sts.
4. Patches and Blocks are worked using a "join as you go" technique. Refer to layout diagram for arrangement of Patches and Blocks.
5. Border is worked around the outer edge of the Mat.
