Triangle Shawl

Lion Brand® Vanna's Glamour®

GAUGE:

23 sts + 13 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Picot-Flower Ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook, (ch 5, sl st in same ch) 3 times.

TECHNIQUE EXPLANATION
Adjustable Ring Method
Wrap yarn around index finger. Insert hook into ring on finger, yarn over and draw up a loop. Carefully slip ring from finger and work the stitches of Row 1 (in pattern, below) into the ring. When Row 1 is complete, gently but firmly, pull tail to tighten center of ring.

NOTES:

1. Shawl is worked beg at center back neck and shaped with increases.
2. Picot-Flowers are worked into the 8th dc of the 7th row and repeated on every 8th row.
3. An edging is worked around the outer edge. As edging is worked, Picot-Clover are worked across the lower diagonal edges.
4. Shawl can be worked by following written instructions or the Stitch Diagram.
