Granny Wrap With Collar

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice® - Vanna's Palettes

1 square = about 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 in. (7 x 7 cm)

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

1. 48 Squares are made individually, then sewn together to make Wrap.
2. Collar is worked separately then sewn to assembled Wrap.
3. Ties are worked with a double strand of yarn, bobble ends of ties with a single strand.

Squares (make 48 total)
Use A for Rnd 1 of all Squares. For Rnd 2, make 3 Squares using each of the colors from B and C.
With A, ch 5.
Join with sl st in first ch to make a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in ring, ch 2, *4 dc, ch 2; rep from * 3 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 – you will have 16 dc and 4 ch-2 sps at the end of this rnd.
Change to next color (any B or C color).
Rnd 2: With next color, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 3 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp, *dc in next 4 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * 3 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 – 32 dc and 4 ch-2 sps.
Fasten off.

With A, ch 22.
Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (beg ch counts as first dc) and in each ch across – 21 sts.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), turn, working through back loops, hdc in next st and in each st across.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures 44 in. (112 cm) from beg.
Fasten off.

Sew Squares into 3 strips of 16 Squares each. Sew strips together to make a rectangle.
Sew long edge of Collar to one long edge of rectangle.
Ties (make 2)
From RS, join 2 strands of A with a sl st at one end of Collar seam.
With 2 strands of A held tog, ch for about 25 in. (63.5 cm).
Fasten off one strand, trim end.
With a single strand of A, work bobble end as follows:
yarn over, insert hook in 4th ch from hook and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, *yarn over, insert hook in same ch and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook); rep from * once more, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
Fasten off.
Rep on opposite end of Collar to make second tie.
Weave in ends.
