Buttoned Wrap

Lion Brand® Modern Baby®

9 V-sts + 20 rows = about 5 in. (12.5 cm) in pattern.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

V-st (Hdc, ch 1, hdc) in indicated st or sp.

1. Wrap is worked lengthwise, back and forth in rows.
2. Edging is worked along both long sides of Wrap.
3. Following the diagram, buttons are sewn to one end of Wrap. Use ch-sps of edging for buttonholes.
4. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete st. Fasten off old color.

With A, ch 195.
Row 1 (RS): V-st in 4th ch from hook (beg ch counts as hdc), *sk next 2 ch, V-st in next ch; rep from * to last 2 ch, sk next ch, hdc in last ch – 64 V-sts.
Rows 2-12: Ch 2, turn, V-st in ch-1 sp of each V-st across, hdc in top of beg ch.
Change to B.
Rows 13-24: With B, rep Row 2.
Change to C.
Rows 25-36: With C, rep Row 2.
Do not fasten off.
Edging (first side)
Row 1 (RS):
Continuing with C, ch 1, turn, sc in first st, *ch 5, sk next 2 V-sts, sc in next sp between V-sts; rep from * to last 2 V-sts, ch 5, sk last 2 V-sts, sc in top of turning ch – 32 ch-5 sps.
Row 2: Turn, *7 sc in next ch-5 sp, sl st in next sc; rep from * across – 224 sc.
Fasten off.
Edging (second side)
Row 1 (RS):
From RS, working across opposite side of the foundation ch, join C with sc in first ch (at base of last hdc of Row 1 of Wrap), *ch 5, sk next 5 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across – 32 ch-5 sps.
Row 2: Turn, *7 sc in next ch-5 sp, sl st in next sc; rep from * across – 224 sc.

Very easy to follow instruction. It would be awesome if the pattern can be modified to fit adults or women.
