Buttoned Collar

Lion Brand® Quickie

5 double crochet = about 5 1/2 in. (14cm)

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Chain 20.
Row 1: Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 19 stitches.
Row 2: Chain 3, turn, double crochet in next stitch and in each stitch across.
Row 3: *Chain 3, turn, single crochet in each of next 2 stitches; repeat from * to the last stitch, chain 3, single crochet in the last stitch.
Fasten off.

With sewing needle and thread, sew button to top right hand corner of Collar. Use spaces between stitches as buttonhole.
With fingers, weave in ends.

Buttoned Collar Reviewed by Chris Ellyson on 2015-05-18 *
Intrigued by the chance to try a new yarn and the VERY pretty fall colors ("Spicy"), I bought a skein. This is the only crochet pattern, but fortunately I like it. However, I was VERY disappointed that in only 22 yards of yarn there was a break. The ends of the two pieces of yarn had been tied in a knot with less than 1/2" tails, not nearly secure enough to use. In order to undo the knot and reattach the yarn securely, I'd lose way too much yardage, so I left it simply to try the yarn. Despite my gauge and size matching the pattern, there was not enough yarn to complete more than a couple stitches of the final row. SO disappointing. This was the only skein the store had, so no chance to buy more.
