Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®
14 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (k every row) When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size
specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be
sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what
the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person.
If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller
size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch
kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st – 1 st increased.
1. Throw is worked diagonally in one piece in Garter st (k every row), changing color following a Stripe Sequence.
2. For first half of Throw, one st is increased on each row. For second half of Throw, one st is decreased on each row.
3. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Work back and forth in rows as if working on straight needles.
*Work 4 rows with A, 4 rows with B, 4 rows with C and 4 rows with D; rep from * for Stripe Sequence.
With A, cast on 3 sts.

Continuing to change color following Stripe Sequence, rep last row until you have 3 sts remaining.

Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Kfb, k to last st, kfb – 106 sts.
