Wave Pattern Hat And Cowl

Lion Brand® Heartland

GAUGE:

1 wave + 5 rows/rnds = about 4 in. (10 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

dc2tog (double crochet 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.
dc4tog (double crochet 4 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops) 4 times, yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook – 3 sts decreased.

NOTES:

1. Cowl is worked back and forth in rows. The piece is twisted, then ends are sewn together to make a Mobius ring.
2. Hat is worked in joined and turned rnds beg at lower edge.
