Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®
10 stitches + 13 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.
When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size
specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be
sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what
the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person.
If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller
size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Newsprint Poncho Reviewed by Janet Pedersen on 2014-11-28
I just completed this poncho. It was fun and easy to knit, but I agree with the previous reviewer: there is something off with the sizing. I used size 13 needles and following the pattern, used a scant 4 skeins of yarn, more like 3 1/2, certainly not the 5 required. I am a small person and the poncho did not turn out to be as long as pictured. However, I am pleased with the finished product and will probably knit it again.
