Lion Brand® Pelt

GAUGE:

14 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) over Rows 1-4.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from the left needle, then k through back of same st – 1 st increased.

PATTERN STITCH
K1, p1 Rib (multiple of 2 sts + 1)
Row 1 (RS):
K1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K1, p1 Rib.

NOTES:

1. Collar is worked back and forth in rows on circular needle, as if working on straight needles.
2. Pattern is written to use every bit of the yarn! Take care when casting on not to leave a long yarn tail. If you seem to be running short of yarn, do not work Row 15, simply bind off after working Row 14.

COLLAR
Cast on 61 sts.
Work 10 rows in K1, p1 Rib.
Set up Row: *Kfb, k11, place marker, rep from * to last st, kfb – 67 sts at the end of this row.
Rows 1 and 3: Slipping markers as you come to them, k4, p to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 2: Knit.
Row 4: *Kfb, k to marker, slip marker; rep from * across, k to last st, kfb – 73 sts.
Rows 5-12: Rep Rows 1-4 – 85 sts at the end of Row 12.
Rows 13-15: Knit.
Bind off.

FINISHING
Ties

Cut length of remaining yarn in half. Fold one half in half again to make a double strand. With crochet hook, join this half to front edge of Collar with a slip st, just below ribbing.
Work chains until entire length has been chained. Fasten off.
Rep with remaining yarn length on opposite side of Collar.
Weave in ends.
