Little Sweetheart Bolero

Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Extra Soft Wool Blend - Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Glitter Eyelash

GAUGE:

18 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Texture pattern with A.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st - 1 st increased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.

PATTERN STITCH
Texture Pattern (worked over a multiple of 6 sts + 2 additional sts)
Row 1 (RS):
K2, *p1, k1; rep from * across.
Rows 2: P2, *k1, p1; rep from * across.
Rows 3 and 4: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Row 5: K2, *p1, k1, p1, k3; rep from * across.
Row 6: P4, *k1, p5; rep from * to last 4 sts, k1, p3.
Row 7: Knit.
Row 8: Purl.
Rows 9-12: Rep Rows 7 and 8 twice.
Rows 13 and 14: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Rows 15-20: Rep Rows 7-12.
Rep Rows 1-20 for Texture pattern.

NOTES:

1. Bolero is worked in one piece to armholes, then divided for back and fronts.
2. Bolero can be worked from written instructions or by following charts. When working from charts, read RS rows from right to left and WS rows from left to right.
3. A circular needle is used to work outer edging. If desired, use the circular needle instead of straight needles for Body and Sleeves by working back and forth on circular needle as if working with straight needles.
4. 'Work even' in the instructions means to continue on in the pattern st you have established without changing the st count by increasing, decreasing, or binding off.
5. When you see '0' in an instruction, this means that for that size, you should not work any sts, just skip to the next part of the pattern.
6. 'As established' in the instructions means to continue in the current pattern st, being careful to beg and end rows so that the sts line up with sts of previous rows.
