Lion Brand« Homespun® Thick & Quick®
7 sts + 11 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size
specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be
sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what
the designer used, but is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person.
If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller
size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch
Loop St (worked on RS, all in one st) Insert crochet hook in indicated st and draw up a loop; form a loop in front of work as follows: Bring working yarn to the front; hold working yarn with finger or thumb of hand holding the hook. Leaving a loop of yarn in the front about 9 in. (23 cm) long, bring the working yarn to back of work. Insert hook in same st and draw up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook to complete the st and lock the loop in place.
1. Main section of Throw is worked in intarsia knitting. When working intarsia, do not carry yarns across the WS of work. Use a separate ball of yarn for each color. When changing color, pick up new color from under dropped color to prevent holes from forming in your work.
2. Sts for border are picked up along one short side of Throw.
3. Edging and fringe are crocheted.
