Tea Party Dress

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice® - Imagine

GAUGE:

12 1/2 sts + 10 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) with A in pattern.

 

STITCH EXPLANATION:

BPDC (back post double crochet) Yarn over, insert hook from back to front then to back, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st in front of the BPDC.
FPDC (front post double crochet) Yarn over, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st behind the FPDC.

NOTES:

1. Dress is worked in two pieces, Front and Back.
2. Ruffle trim is created with B yarn.
3. Bow is pinned to Dress so can be removed for washing.


BACK
Ch 50 (53, 56).
Row 1 (RS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (beginning ch counts as first hdc), hdc in each ch across - 49 (52, 55) hdc at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc in this row and in all following rows), turn, hdc in next 5 sts, *BPDC around next st, hdc in next 11 (12, 13) sts; rep from * three times to last 7 sts, BPDC around next st, hdc in last 6 sts.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, hdc in next 5 sts, *FPDC around next st, hdc in next 11 (12, 13) sts; rep from * three times to last 7 sts, FPDC around next st, hdc in last 6 sts.
Rows 4-7: Rep last 2 rows 2 more times.

Shape Right Shoulder
Row 1 (RS):
From RS, sk next 7 (10, 13) unworked sts following left shoulder and join A with sl st in next st, ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in next 7 sts, FPDC around next st, hdc in last st - 10 sts.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, BPDC around next st, hdc in each st to last 2 sts, sk next st, hdc in last st - 9 sts.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, sk next st, hdc in each st to last 2 sts, FPDC around next st, hdc in last st - 8 sts.
Rows 4 and 5: Rep last 2 rows - 6 sts rem.
Row 6: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across.
Fasten off.


FINISHING
Sew shoulder and side seams.
Neck Ruffle Trim
From RS, join A with sl st in neck edge at left shoulder seam, ch 1. Holding B at neck edge and leaving a 2 in. (5cm) tail, *with A and working over strand of B work a sc in neck edge; with A and working behind strand of B, work 2 sc in neck edge; rep from * evenly spaced all the way around neck edge; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. With sewing needle and thread secure edges of B to shoulder seam.
Lower Edge Ruffle Trim
Work same as neck ruffle trim beginning at left side seam, working around lower edge of Dress.
Bow
Cut 55 in. (140 cm) long piece of B. Double tie all ends to secure. Tie a bow, sew a safety pin on back of bow. Pin bow to center front of Dress.
Weave in ends.
