Floral Scarf

Lion Brand® Bonbons®

One Large Flower Motif = about 4 in. (10 cm) across;
One Small Flower Motif = about 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm) across.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Adjustable Ring Method

Wrap yarn around index finger. Insert hook into ring on finger, yarn over and draw up a loop. Carefully slip ring from finger and work the stitches of Rnd 1 (in pattern, below) into the ring. When Rnd 1 is complete, gently but firmly, pull tail to tighten center of ring.

1. Scarf is made from 8 Small and 7 Large Flower Motifs.
2. Each Motif is worked in joined rnds with RS facing at all times. Do not turn at the beg of rnds.

Lavender (A)
Yellow (B)
Sky Blue (C)
Medium Blue (D)
Peach (E)
Pale Pink (F)
White (G)
Light Green (H)

LARGE FLOWER MOTIF (make 7 - 1 each with A, B, C, D, E, F, and G)
Make an adjustable ring.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; join with sl st in first sc - 8 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (always counts as first dc), dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each st around; join with sl st in top of beg ch - 16 dc at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, (ch 3, sk next st, sc in next st) around to last st, ch 3, sk last st; join with sl st in first sc - 8 sc and 8 ch-3 sps.
Rnd 4: (Sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-3 sp around; join with sl st in first sc - 8 (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) small petals.
Rnd 5: Sl st in next hdc, sl st in next dc, (sl st, ch 1, sc) in next dc (center dc of first 3-dc group), *ch 5, sk next 6 sts, sc in next dc (center dc of 3-dc group); rep from * around, ch 5, sk rem sts; join with sl st in first sc - 8 sc and 8 ch-5 sps.
Rnd 6: (Sc, hdc, 7 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-5 sp around; join with sl st in first sc - 8 (sc, hdc, 7 dc, hdc, sc) large petals.
Fasten off.

SMALL FLOWER MOTIF (make 8 - 1 each with A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H)
Make an adjustable ring, then work Rnds 1-4 of Large Flower Motif.
Fasten off.

Arrange Motifs into a strip in the following order (or as desired):
F-colored Small Flower, A-colored Large Flower, D-colored Small Flower, B-colored Large Flower, E-colored Small Flower, C-colored Large Flower, B-colored Small Flower, G-colored Large Flower, H-colored Small Flower, E-colored Large Flower, C-colored Small Flower, F-colored Large Flower, G-colored Small Flower, D-colored Large Flower, A-colored Small Flower.
Keeping the motifs in a strip, arrange motifs so that the tip of one petal of each Large Flower lies between the tips of two petals of each of the adjoining Small Flowers. With matching yarn, sew the petal tips together.
Weave in ends.

I did this with Vanna's Choice! Fun and easy, and is a good project for beginners working in the round for the first couple times ;) THANKS LION BRAND!
