Highlighter Vest

GAUGE:

11 sts + 13 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in K2, p1 rib with larger needles.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st – 1 st increased.
pfb (purl in front and back) Purl next st without removing it from left needle, then p through back of same st – 1 st increased.
skp Slip 1 as if to knit, knit 1, pass slip stitch over knit stitch – 1 st decreased.

PATTERN STITCHES
K2, p1 Rib (worked over a multiple of 3 sts + 2 additional sts)
Row 1 (RS): *K2, p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 2: Knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K2, p1 Rib.

STRIPE PATTERN
Working in K2, p1 rib, work 2 rows with A, 2 rows with B, 2 rows with A, 2 rows with C, 2 rows with A, 2 rows with D, 2 rows with A, 1 row with E, 2 rows with A, 2 rows with D, 2 rows with A, 2 rows with C, 2 rows with A, 2 rows with B, 2 rows with A, 1 row with E. Rep these 30 rows for Stripe Pattern.

NOTES:

1. Vest is worked in 2 pieces, Front and Back.
2. When you see ‘– 12 sts’ in the instructions, this lets you know how many sts you will have at the end of that specific row.
3. When picking up sts around armholes and neck, pick up a number that works well on your Vest. You may find that picking up 1 or 2 more or fewer sts looks better than the number of sts we suggest.
