Dotty Scarf

Lion Brand« Alpine Wool

GAUGE:

14 sts + 20 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) and intarsia colorwork.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

1. Scarf is worked in intarsia colorwork and St st (k on RS, p on WS) with a Garter st (k every row) border.
2. Markers are used to separate the intarsia colorwork from the border sts.
3. Scarf can be worked from the written instructions or by following the chart. When working from chart, read RS rows from right to left and WS rows from left to right.
4. Do not carry yarn across the WS of work, use a separate ball for each section of color. When changing color, pick up new strand from under dropped strand to prevent holes from forming in your work.
5. Wind B into 2 separate balls before beginning.
