Bulky Woven Shawl
Lion Brand® Imagine
GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
NOTES: You will need a large, flat pinnable surface on which to work – the top of your bed would be perfect! Just be sure to collect all the pins when you’re finished working.

SCARF Unwind 3 balls of yarn. Fold each length in half to divide the yarn into equal lengths. Pin folded ends to flat surface. Separate lengths so that you have 6 strands. Pin the end of each strand to flat surface. You will be weaving over and under the 6 strands with 1 strand from a 4th ball of yarn, unwinding the ball as you work. Beginning at folded end of the 6 strands, loosely weave under the first strand, over the second strand, under the third strand, over the fourth strand, under the fifth strand, and then over the sixth strand. For the next row of weaving, take the ball of yarn under that sixth strand, then weave back across the pinned strands going over the strands you went under in the previous row and over the strands you went under in the previous row to make the second row of weaving. Continue weaving in this way until all of the 4th ball of yarn has been used. Join the 5th ball of yarn by sewing the end of the yarn to the tail of the 4th ball. Continue weaving as established, joining the 6th ball in the same way and weaving until all of the 6th ball has been used. Use your fingers to weave in the yarn ends.
FINISHING With sewing thread, sew the beginning and ending yarn ends to the Scarf to secure. Sew a few stitches through each yarn intersection along the first and last rows to keep the yarn strands in place. |
