Coiled Cap
Lion Brand® Imagine - Vanna's Glamour®
GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
NOTES: Cap is worked as a continuous coil with each new coil secured to the previous coil.

|
CAP Cut a 1 yard (1 meter) length of B. Knot one end of B length to one end of A. Thread the unknotted end of B into blunt needle. As you coil A to make the Cap, you will sew over the strand to secure it as follows: 1. Bring blunt needle to the right side between the A strand you are working with and the already coiled A strand. 2. Draw B strand over the A strand, then back out between the A strands a short distance away. 3. Repeat Step 2 as you work, always securing the strand of A that you are working on to the previously coiled A strand.
On a flat surface, coil knotted end of A into a small circle. Secure the spiral shape by sewing over the strands with B. Continue to coil A into a spiral and to secure the spiral by sewing over the strands with B. When circle measures about 6 1/2 in. (cm) across, pull A a bit tighter so that the circle doesn't get wider but begins to take on a Cap shape. Continue coiling A, sewing it in place with B and checking the fit as you work, until Cap is the desired size. Knot end of B to secure.
FINISHING Use your fingers to weave in the A yarn ends, and blunt needle to weave in the B yarn ends. |
