Leaving a 6 in. (15 cm) tail of yarn, chain 10.
Set up Row: Make a half double crochet stitch in the 3rd chain from your hook and in each of the chains across.
Row 1: Chain 2, turn. Make a half double crochet in the first half double crochet and in each half double crochet across.
Repeat Row 1 until only a small amount of yarn remains.
You will have yarn tails at the beginning and end of your Scarf. Trim each tail to about 6 in. (15 cm) long (no shorter!). To hide these tails, weave the hook in and out of a few stitches of your Scarf near one of the tails. Hook the yarn tail over your crochet hook and pull the tail through the Scarf. Do the same with the other tail.
