Mitered Squares Scarf

Lion Brand« Bonbons

GAUGE:

20 sts + 30 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.
One Square = about 2 x 2 in. (5 x 5 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal strand lying between needles and placing it onto the left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop – 1 st increased.

NOTES:

1. Scarf is worked in two columns of mitered Squares. Sts are picked up across the edge of previous Square(s) to beg the next Square.
2. Each Square is worked back and forth in rows with decreases worked in the center of every other row to form the miter.
3. To change color, cut the old color and begin working with new color leaving long yarn tails. You may knot the old and new yarn tails together, if desired. When you have finished knitting, unknot the tails and weave them in.

Mitered Squares Scarf Reviewed by linda jarvis-walker on 2013-10-14 ***
Pattern instructions are clear and easy to follow, but I was very unhappy about having so many ends to weave in at the end this also left the wrong side very unsightly especially since it is a scarf which naturally will show.
