Crochet Beard

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®

14 sc and 15 rows = 4 in. (10 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.

1. Beard is worked back and forth in rows beg at top edge.
2. An opening is formed near the center of Beard for mouth and to separate beard and mustache sections.
3. The elastic headband is used to secure the Beard to your face.

From RS, join yarn with a sl st in first st of Row 1, ch 3, sl st in beg end of Row 1, sc evenly around curved edge of Beard, working last sc in end of Row 1, ch 3, sl st in last st of Row 1. Fasten off. Cut elastic headband into a 13 in. (33 cm) length. Thread one end of elastic through one ch-3 loop. Fold end of elastic over ch-3 loop by about 1/2 in. (1.5 cm) and sew end to headband. Being careful not to twist elastic, rep for other side.

Loved the pattern! Super easy, but measure your face because mine was too big.
