Cuff
With A, cast on 24 sts.
Rows 1-18: Knit.
Change to B. Cut A, leaving a long yarn tail.
Row 19 (WS): Purl.
Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) for 10 rows.
Shape Top of Foot
Next Row (RS): K16, sl the last 8 sts onto a st holder.
Next Row: P8, sl the last 8 sts onto a st holder.
Working across 8 center sts only, work in St st for 4 rows.
Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail.
Next Row (RS): With empty needle, k8 sts from holder, pick up and k6 sts evenly spaced along the side edge of the 4 rows you just worked, k8 sts from needle, pick up and k6 sts evenly spaced along the side edge of the 4-row St st section, then pick up and k8 sts from next holder - 36 sts.
Purl one row.
Shape Foot
Next Row: K16, k2tog, ssk, k to end - 34 sts.
Next Row: Purl.
Next Row: K1, ssk, k12, k2tog, ssk, k12, k2tog, k1 - 30 sts.
Next Row: Purl.
Next Row: K1, ssk, k10, k2tog, ssk, k10, k2tog, k1 - 26 sts.
Next Row: Purl.
Next Row: K1, ssk, k8, k2tog, ssk, k8, k2tog, k1 - 22 sts.
Next Row: P9, (p2tog) twice, p9 - 20 sts.
Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail.
FINISHING
With A, and following Chart, duplicate st a tree onto each side of Stocking with top of tree about 2 sts below lower edge of cuff.
With yarn tail, sew bottom of foot, back of leg and cuff.
Fold cuff down.
Hanging Loop
With A, cast on 20 sts. Without working any rows, bind off.
Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Fold piece in half, and with yarn tail, sew ends to cuff.
Weave in ends. |
