PURSE Note that Bellini yarn is constructed with a 'ladder' along one edge. The spaces in this ladder edge should be counted as loops.
With A, cast on 10 sts as follows: From end of yarn, skip the first 2 loops (this end of the yarn is the yarn tail), then insert your needle into the next loop. Keeping this loop on your needle, insert your needle into each of the next 9 loops - 10 sts (loops) on needle.
Work in Garter st (k every row) as follows: 1. Hold the needle with the cast on sts in your left hand and the empty needle in your right hand. 2. Insert right hand needle into the first st on the left hand needle as if to knit, then into the next loop on the working yarn. Pull the loop of working yarn through the st on the left needle, then slip the st off the left hand needle - 1 st knitted onto right hand needle. 3. Insert right hand needle into the next st on the left hand needle as if to k, then into the next loop on the working yarn. Pull the loop of working yarn through the st on the left needle, then sl the st off the left hand needle - you have now knit the next st. 4. Rep Step 3 to knit all sts.
Work in Garter st (k every row) until almost all yarn has been used and at least 12 loops of working yarn remain. Continuing to use yarn loops as sts, bind off.
HANDLES (make 2) Note: Wind B into 2 balls before beginning to work Handles. With 2 strands of B held together, cast on 36 sts. Knit 3 rows. Bind off.
FINISHING Fold Purse in half, matching cast-on edge to bound-off edge. With one strand of B threaded into blunt needle, seam sides. Sew one Handle to front of purse and one Handle to back of purse. Use your fingers to weave the A yarn ends into the fabric of the Purse. Use blunt needle to weave in the B yarn ends. |
