Urban Loops Collar

Lion Brand® Bellini

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

Due to the unique nature of this yarn, the techniques for casting on and knitting are specific to this particular yarn. The Collar is easy to knit, just be sure to read carefully through the instructions before beginning so that you understand how to work with the yarn.

Note that Bellini yarn is constructed with a 'ladder' along one edge. The spaces in this ladder edge should be counted as loops.

Cast on 27 sts as follows:
From end of yarn, skip the first 2 loops (this end of the yarn is the yarn tail), then insert your needle into the next loop. Keeping this loop on your needle, insert your needle into each of the next 26 loops - 27 sts (loops) on needle.

Work in Garter st (knit every row) as follows:
1. Hold the needle with the cast on sts in your left hand and the empty needle in your right hand.
2. Insert right hand needle into the first st on the left hand needle as if to knit, then into the next loop on the working yarn. Pull the loop of working yarn through the st on the left needle, then slip the st off the left hand needle - 1 st knitted onto right hand needle.
3. Insert right hand needle into the next st on the left hand needle as if to knit, then into the next loop on the working yarn. Pull the loop of working yarn through the st on the left needle, then slip the st off the left hand needle - you have now knit the next st.
4. Rep Step 3 to knit all sts.

Work in Garter st (knit every row) for 6 rows.
Continuing to use yarn loops as sts, bind off.

With sewing needle and thread, sew button to one corner of Collar. Use any space between sts as a buttonhole. Use your fingers to weave the yarn ends into the fabric of the Collar.

Urban Loops Collar Reviewed by SUSAN CRITTENDEN on 2014-02-07 *****
I have found that with most fancy yarns if you use larger needles and cast on less stitches you will get the desired look without having to purchase an additional skein of yarn. I have a lot of experience with using fancy yarns such as this instead of 27 try 15 stitches. Which ever one will give you the more fuller affect of the scarf. Same thing as when you are using ruffle yarns as well. Less stitches and larger needles will give you the fuller affect scarf. You also have to decide if you want a longer scarf. For a longer scarf your cast on will be much less. Try it.
